About Me
I began
playing the bagpipes in 1997. My early instructors provided a solid
foundation of piping fundamentals as well as a passion for the music of the
pipes. I was exposed early on to world class piping, receiving
personal instruction from some of the world’s best pipers including Jack Lee
and Alan Bevan when the world champion Simon Fraser University Pipe Band
visited my home town in 1999 and 2000. Inspired by these early
experiences, I resolved to always seek out the very best possible instruction
and to immerse himself in great piping whenever possible. I
received instruction from Jori Chisholm from 2003 through 2005. Jori’s
instruction helped me gain numerous solo prizes throughout the western US and
to rise through the ranks to grade 1. I have also received instruction
from Ian Whitelaw. I was a founding member of the Mount Timpanogos
Pipe Band (grade 4), leading the band as Pipe Major from 2003-2010. I
simultaneously played with the Utah Pipe Band (grade 3) from 2003-2005.
From 2008 till the present I have played with the Wasatch &
District Pipe Band and am currently the Pipe Sergeant. In
August 2011, he competed as a member of the band at the World Pipe Band
Championships is Glasgow, Scotland. As a result of the band's competitive success, the band was upgraded to grade 2 in the fall of 2014 making it one of a only a dozen or so bands in North America to reach that designation.
